Tips for Measuring Your Digital Marketing Success

If digital marketing is something you have never done before, then chances are this can be a very daunting time for you and your company. Realising the potential that the online universe yields can be quite astonishing and the ability to track your success instantly is phenomenal. With traditional marketing, it has always been difficult to accurately track what has worked, and what has been a massive waste of budget.

Fortunately, moving into the online era has had huge benefits. Results are just a click away and the technology available now allows you to inspect everything down to the finest detail. Of course, over time you will gain a better understanding of everything that comes with digital marketing, but to assist you in getting involved, here are a few tips to guide you in measuring the success of your efforts:

  • Are you confident in your research?

One of the key areas of any digital marketing venture is the initial research. Finding out more about how your customers interact with your product/company and what they want from it can intensify the results of your campaign. If this reflects in sales and interaction, then chances are you have done it correctly.

  • Is your website selling?

Whether it is a product sale or enquiries that you are looking for, the big question is – have the figures improved? Any marketing venture is about getting business and although this could take a little while to improve, depending on the route you choose, it is important that things are on an upward spiral.

  • Is there more traffic?

Using your analytics, be sure to check that the traffic on your site increases. Also note whether it is the search engine optimisation (SEO) or other forms of online promotion (social media, display ads, etc) which are attracting people. This can tell you which areas are providing the best results and where you can focus more time and money.

  • Do you use reports?

If you don’t, then you should. If you choose a digital agency to run things for you, then they should provide you with the relevant reports and statistics. Be sure to not be overwhelmed by the variety of numbers and always keep your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in mind.

Keeping track on the effect of your strategies will only add to the success of your business. Measuring the success of your digital marketing efforts will allow you to get the maximum reward for your efforts, helping you achieve your goals.
